Ruben Erlích is a mischievous observer, a tragic ladies' man, and a naive idealist. He is polite, brushes his teeth twice a day, and is a master of missed opportunities. "Boludo" is the story of an anti-hero who lives episodically through the Argentine capital. Above all, the novel is a passionate plea for the European idea and its post-national values. Without didactic lessons, but with humor and agility. In a straightforward style that draws its charm from refreshing North and South American storytelling traditions, "Boludo" is quite literally a travel guide to Buenos Aires and a rhizomatic coming-of-age story. Sorry.
